Student Leaders

Our ministry, consistent with our mission, is led by a strong group of student leaders. While we do have several wonderful full-time ministry staff, students leaders are responsible for most or our events and initiatives.

  Kayla Bartsch     (President)    kayla.bartsch@yale.edu   Kayla is a junior in Hopper College from Minneapolis, MN. She is pursuing a double major in Philosophy and Humanities. Kayla is the Chairman of the Federalist Party, Editor of Logos: Yale’s Journal of Christian Thought, and a member of the Yale Glee Club. When she’s not hiding out in a library, you can find Kayla sipping tea and reading the latest issue of “First Things” in the Mouse.

He is the Undergraduate President of the Adventist Campus Fellowship, the Community Outreach Chair for the Yale Black Men’s Union, and works in the Yale Admissions Office as a Recruitment Coordinator. Fun fact about Ben: He is a dual citizen of the U.S. and Canada.

He is the Undergraduate President of the Adventist Campus Fellowship, the Community Outreach Chair for the Yale Black Men’s Union, and works in the Yale Admissions Office as a Recruitment Coordinator. She is the Co-Cultural Chair of the Chinese American Students Association (CASA) and is active in campus theater. When she isn’t at the Mouse she is most likely writing in a coffee shop. She also loves going to movies and is always down for a Marvel discussion.

Rooted

As Christians, we are called to boldly promote the Gospel of Jesus Christ and build up each other as a part of God's church. In seeking to create a worshipful experience for all member of Christian Union each week, the Rooted team creates an event that incorporates God’s infallible Word with both music and a relevant message.

  Haley Hegefeld (Rooted Co-Lead)    haley.hegefeld@yale.edu   Haley is a junior in Jonathan Edwards College from Austin, TX. She is majoring in Psychology. When she isn’t leading Rooted, you will find her rehearsing with the Groove Dance Company, doing research for the Yale Psychology Department, or going to Bow Tie Cinemas to catch the latest release. Communications

The Communications Team is responsible for continually working on finding effective and engaging ways of sharing information both within our community and with the campus at large. This includes sending digital communications and assisting other team leaders effectively communicate their own messages.

Outreach

The goal of the Outreach Team is to connect Christians at Yale to each other. This is accomplished in the hopes of demonstrating God's unconditional love through community involvement. Through their actions, the Outreach Team strives to establish a positive view of the kingdom of God as one that is not of this world, but of something greater.

Socials

The Socials Team works to develop a vibrant community of believers and to provide Christ-centered opportunities to connect and support one another. By creating exciting and engaging activities, they encourage others to participate in Christian Union's community.

When she isn’t planning parties for Christian Union, she works as a research assistant in a cardiac biomechanics lab, tutors elementary school kids at Fair Haven School, plays soccer on Yale Women’s Club Two Soccer Team, and assists in the Head of College Office in Silliman.
